Today I saw an interesting event – (fully official) demonstration for the legalization of marijuana – a lot of kids, waving banners, drumming, on tarambukas and shouting. I wonder what will be the influence, and on whom will it be.

The rest of the day was normal and quiet, we had breakfast in Divaka, I went to the anime meeting, and that’s it. It also got certain that I’ll have to get up really early Monday morning, to be able to be at NBU at 9:45. The coming week will be interesting…

Днес забелязах много интересно събитие – (съвсем официална) демонстрация за легализирането на марихуаната – купчина деца, размахващи знамена, биещи тарамбуки и викащи. Интересно какво влияние ще имат, и върху кого.

Деня иначе си беше нормален и спокоен, закусихме в Дивака, ходих на аниме среща, и толкова. Стана също така сигурно, че в понеделник трябва да отлепя доста рано, за да успея в около 9:45 да съм в НБУ. Весела седмица се очертава…

The day began with the payment of some bills, after which I went to FMI for the seminar (it wasn’t easy going around with this backpack). In the beginning there were a few problems – there wasn’t net in the hall (but there were cables, and we fixed the situation), we had to put some power strips, etc, but in the end we managed to begin only with 10 minutes delay.

The first lecture was by Grigor Gatchev, about the free (as in freedom) not only software (he said that if he has the time, he’ll give it in writing too) – it was really good and interesting (like all of his doings :) ). Then Peio spoke about the licenses and the different juridical problems in the software development (and made a pretty good lecture, a lot better than the last time at the linux-bg seminar). The seminar was concluded with Alexander Shopov’s lecture on the software patents – we didn’t have time for Kaloyan’s lecture on Subversions, we left it for the next such seminar.

I was doing small stuff most of the time, to manage to get the recording in the space I had – the files were savet at 1G pieces, I kept uploading them at the zver and encoding them in three parallel threads (and because of some confusion 5 minutes of Grigor’s lecture were lost, it was my fault). Right now the first two lectures are available at zver.fsa-bg.org/~vasil/seminar_13.05, the third one is being encoded in the moment, it’ll be uploaded by tomorrow.

The evening was finished with eating and drinking at Toronto (I haven’t had breakfast, and this helped a lot).

Something interesting to read – http://www.daemonology.net/papers/htt.pdf, using some of the weird points of the HyperThreading for sniffing the doings of another process. Stuff like this can make you hate the cryptography.

Today I got a mail that there’s a SQL injection in WordPress – that’s not exactly the case, I debugged the problem for half an hour and it turned out that it can’t create problems :) I have to migrate to the last version one of these days, there are a few XSSes…

Деня в общи линии започна с плащането на сметките за тока и net-а, след което отидох до ФМИ за семинара (не беше лесно обикалянето с тая раница на гърба). В общи линии в началото имаше няколко проблема – нямаше net в залата (но имаше кабели, и оправихме ситуацията), трябваше да разполагаме разклонители и т.н., но в крайна сметка успяхме да почнем само с 10на минути закъснение.

Първата лекция беше на Григор Гачев, за свободния не само софтуер (той каза, че при възможност ще я даде и в писмен вид) – беше много добра и интересна (както и всичките му работи :) ). После говори Пейо за лицензите и различните правни моменти около писането на софтуер (и се справи доста добре, минало му беше от предния път, като говори на семинара на linux-bg). Семинара завърши Сашо Шопов с лекцията за патентите – не остана време Калоян да говори за Subversion, оставихме го за следващия подобен семинар.

Аз през цялото време правех дребни магии, за да се съберем в мястото – свалях видеото на файлове по 1G, и ги качвах на zver-а, където на три паралелни thread-а ги encode-вах (и поради объркване в един момент 5 мин. от лекцията на Григор липсват, аз съм виновен). В момента първите две лекции могат да се намерят на zver.fsa-bg.org/~vasil/seminar_13.05, третата се кодира в момента, вероятно до утре ще е качена.

Вечерта завършихме с ядене и пиене в Торонто (аз не бях и закусвал, добре ми дойде).

Интересно четиво – http://www.daemonology.net/papers/htt.pdf, използване на някои странности на HyperThreading за подслушване на действията на определен процес. Направо да му се отще на човек да се занимава с криптография.

Днес ми бяха писали, че в WordPress има SQL injection – ми не е точно така, половин час гледах кода, тествах, и се оказа, че проблем няма :) Трябва обаче тия дни да мина на новата версия, че има няколко XSS-а…
