The book is not overly technical &#8211; there&#8217;s no easy way (if there even is one) to make a good research on the equipment that&#8217;s used in the filtering and the exact way it&#8217;s used, but they&#8217;ve described the main methods from the standpoint of the user in almost all countries with some filtering, the topics, the law base, etc. (they&#8217;ve skipped Turkmenistan and something else).<br \/>\n(It&#8217;s a pity that most of the stuff there is in the style &#8220;Internet == web&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>Especially interesting was the part about the filtering in Europe and North America &#8211; the principles of filtering with takedown notices are well described&#8230; I have the impression that almost everywhere there are laws against some &#8220;hate&#8221; ideas (like holocaust denial, nazis, etc.), I wonder if we&#8217;re not going overboard in paying attention to a small group of idiots.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a pretty interesting paragraph on the filtration of arenabg.com a few years ago &#8211; probably the best short description of the case that I&#8217;ve read.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, the book is worthy, more information about it can be found in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schneier.com\/blog\/archives\/2008\/04\/internet_censor.html\">the blog of Bruce Schneier<\/a>, otherwise it can be found at Amazon (I doubt that someone would translate it in Bulgarian or will try to import it).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I finished reading &#8220;Access Denied&#8221;, turned out to be a pretty useful material.
