I finished alpha’s maitenance. The results:<\/p>\n
I found out that the machine was hellishly overheating, because the UPS is blowing directly at her. I did some rearranging, and I’m thinking about buying a fan for the disk drive, and maybe for the processor.<\/p>\n
I also found out a lot of dust ( I had to wash my hands twice).<\/p>\n
From the 3 drives that A–Viper brought me, one didn’t want to answer to the SPIN-UP command, the second tried heroically to spin up while sounding heart-breaking, and the third one somewhat died while formatting. Now they’re on the table, each with a small label describing its problem.<\/p>\n
I fixed the network configs (which were an incredible mess), now after a reboot everything works as it should, with no errors. ntpd got a bit of treatment, to sync the machine, because the clock runs with 2 minutes forward every 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Other events – I went to pay the electricity, and the didn’t want my money (I’ll have to go again after 14th), went to FMI to see Shiyachki, but he wasn’t there, went to pay the cable, but it was closed… Yes, Murphy, I love you too, and your mother…<\/p>\n
