Cacti is a great software, until you get to the moment when you need something custom that’s not in it – then may god be with you, because it’s really messy – thousands of templates, some strange data sources, all kinds of nasty bits, for some of the stuff I wrote some scripts (I really didn’t feel making the cacti itself to calculate x*2^32+y).
