l33t bloggers and what the hell are they

by Vasil Kolev

At some places some talk on ‘elite bloggers’ started to show up, which at least according to me is a bit silly term and needs some explaining.

To begin with, there’s no such thing.

The bloggers are just people that write. On the other side there are people who read what’s interesting to them, but it’s determined by the how interesting the writers are, and they’re not limited by the blogs – they have a real life, and the blog is just a way to express themselves that’s easily accessible to the world.

So there are as many tastes as there are readers – that’s the reason to have so much aggregators and variations, in fact every blog has its audience, and some have overlapping ones (it can be argued if the planets are one of the reasons or of the consequences :) ). To put some subset of the blogs higher, because we fell that they’re read by a lot of people is useless, the whole idea is no to have any hierarchy and if there’s a structure, it’s distributed – the blogs aren’t like some online publication, with a head editor, writers, etc…

Someone might say that some blogs are more read than others, that some are more interesting, but there’s the fact that every blog, which is written with the idea to be famous and to pull people is not able to do it – there are a few such examples in the Bulgarian blogosphere (which I can’t even remember now :) ).

Not that I’m stopping anyone from making charts and thinking of such determinations – but it has to be known that there’s not a lot of meaning behind them …
