For the people using pidgin 2.4 and having problems with the icq (because of a lot of contacts), e.g. ticket #3642 a patch is available and it should work again (until 2.4.2, where it’s fixed). The patch is taken out of the monotone versioning control system of the developers of pidgin and it works for me.

(and I’m not even using the original, but funpidgin, because they’re putting back some really nice features, which were removed by the original. It seems like I’ll be using a compiled from source pidgin instead of a packaged one for a while).
