I upgraded. Took about two hours to port the shit I had written for the old version (some mangled 2.3.2). You can download the diff for 2.7 and to look at the horrors I wrote (there’s also one change for the database, you need to add column ‘language’ varchar(2) for wp_posts).

I might even spend some time to do a hack to be able to use postgesql for wordpress, as I never liked mysql…
