There are moment, in which some event in some perverse way starts to entertain me a lot, although it’s based on not-so-nice things…

Through Alex Stanev’s blog I found the following story – the policemen had started discussing their protest action with the smoking of one cigarette in an internal forum. Some smart heads from the top used the methods of their youth – e.g. stopped the forum. The policemen just started another one, at a public place, visible by everyone, etc..
I felt my soul sing, to be honest. If that forums is read even a bit, it would be a better PR for the police than anything else…

A small digression – I think everyone will agree that the policemen are the most hated group somewhere after the politicians, customs and mutras in this country. Everyone has attended at least one case with the 10/20 leva and the traffic police, have seen nothing being done on some case, and have at least one story that includes policemen in a bad light. On the other side, I REALLY CANNOT explain to myself how do they survive on their salary and with a family (my own opinion is that with their kind of work the single ones either quit or shoot themselves pretty fast). According to some data some of them work in construction, or quit, and their numbers aren’t even filled (now if the numbers are in fact right is another question, that would need some better data on the expected structure). The rest take bribes and/or live in misery.
I can’t like them, but I can understand them.

Anyway. The events with the forum show to me that there are some smart people there (especially judging by some of the stuff written there), so if the whole thing is not just one big PR action (which I doubt, as I don’t think they can conceive and control it). I really hope that the forum keeps working in the future, and if they have trouble with the hosting, I’d love to host them on marla (they’ll fit perfectly with some other stuff, like the sites for organizing protest for the nature protectors :) ).

I’m thinking also about making an archive of the whole forum, just in case.
(interesting, how will the idea of some of us going there and giving away cigarettes be taken? And can someone suggest a good brand, I don’t smoke?)
