2009-01-06 fun
by Vasil KolevToday was a pretty… fun… day.
It started in the morning with a nice oversleeping (the neuralgia does show up in a lighter form and makes going to sleep a bit harder). I was greeted in the office with the fun news that the gas supply to the building was stopped, which means that the backup power generator is offline, and the central heating is dead and we need to do something about that.
(so a calculation for the whole building was made on how much electrical power can be used for heating, we agreed on not going over 12kW, after which I went with the boss to buy a few small heaters, so we don’t die of the cold. Crisis averted for now, now we’ll need to see how much the electrical network of Sofia can hold.)
Then we had to do some pretty serious calculations on why at some place it said X amount of money, and at another Y. The big difference turned out to be the VAT, there’s a small one left, which we need to discuss with the upstream telco.
Then I managed to spill half of my cup on the laptop (which is about 200ml), so we had to turn it off pretty fast (Stefan helped a lot), to have the battery taken out and to leave it to dry for a while in the server room (which we’re using as a heat source for the office, why to waste 2.5kW pure electrical power :) ).
So I finally left the machine to dry disassembled in Adsys (I’ll go pick it up tomorrow) and got home with the hard drive. At home it turned out that part of the keyboard has declined to work (an old IBM Model M), so I had to take out the backup one, tToday was a pretty… fun… day.
