Writings on the bulgarian anime meeting

Day 1 (Friday), afternoon

We met at Popa on time, for a half an hour everybody came, and then with bus 204 we got to the bus station. From there with two taxi-like cars and the bus we got to Zlatnite mostove (The Golden Bridges) (the bus was unable to bring all the 11 of us, the driver said that it was overheating), from where we got to the cabin in about 56 minutes. The climbing was hard for some people, and we were carrying a lot of luggage, so we had to stop to rest more often…

We left our luggage, chose beds, and rested for a while, after which we went to meet Sasho-san, and had a walk-around. Then I met VDE, and we unloaded the first part of the equipment – the notebook and the projector, and teased them with some AMVs, until the next two cars came, with the audio equipment and the rest of the food. We set up everything, and began lighting the fire (which wasn’t easy, with all the wet wood around and the lack of paper). In the end swetq gave us his cheap deodorant, and it helped a lot… At that time, almost everybody was watching Excel Saga, and we were roasting some stuff on the fire. I made a somewhat deadly heated brandy, with a lot of black and red pepper, and some sugar. All of us that drank from it, were hot and red, and most of them refused a second gulp :) I have the feeling that I’ll be listening to some legends about that for a long time :)
(a burning and boiling pot of brandy is a great view :) )

There were some problems with the laptop, the CD denied to read some disks, the power was a bit flaky, and I’ll have to work on it in the next few days.

In the moment one group is watching Excel Saga, the other one is around the fire (and tomorrow we’ll have potatoes on embers :) ), and I’m thinking about getting some sleep, I feel a bit drifting.

(as I remember, the bed was shaking a little).

Day 2 (Saturday), morning

We slept with 3 blankets (some people were able to survive with only one, but after a lot of beer and such warming elements). According to witnesses, I’ve drank half a bottle of brandy (heated, and I still feel the hangover, good thing I have enough aspirin :) ).

Ivanhowke arrived, brought some machines and a UPS (thank god), v0rbe gave some music, and after the initial testing we’re resting here, listening to Black Mages. Some people are having breakfast outside, Binis, Emerald, Nushinka and some more are still sleeping, and we’re waiting for AlDim.

Really strange was me getting up at 9:30…

Day 2 (Saturday), evening

Blaaaaaaaaah.
What happened:
(pausing, we’ll be making a group photo)
I want to note that the social events don’t have a good effect on me. This photo was a long screaming, taking places, sitting uncomfortably, etc…

We met AlDim on the path, and helped his group with the luggage (they were a lot better than us(the first group)). The day continued with roasting of some meats and their eating (there were a lot of volunteers, that helped with the cooling), a few re-lightings of the fire, walks around, etc.

It all was good, we made some more heated brandy, which wasn’t that deadlier (which maybe is related to that that I didn’t use any black pepper :) ), then Sasho-san made one, which was nice, and then I tried to make heated beer (it sucked, don’t try that). Then we made a full gathering around the fire, to discuss some ideas, like a manga club in Sofia.

Followed the cooking of the Japanese meal, which included the organizing of 5-6 people to cook, boil, stir, etc., hell as usual, then we arranged the tables, then serving it and eating it (and we had to restrain a drunk and dancing mob in between)…

The meal was good, only the noodles were a bit pulpy, but I liked it and ate it all …

As for every such event there were some drunk people that sang, went crazy, and in full reminded me that I’m a bit old for such stuff… Not to mention that they annoyed the hell out of me with idiotic songs… And I was really beaten, because I had part in organizing almost everything and had ran up and down a lot, and in the end I ate my serving out at the fire, where was quiet…
(I was interrupted four times while writing this, to move some where, to turn off lamps, etc…)

In the moment the people in are watching Blue Submarine (I HAVE to get this), I’m feeling sleepy as hell, next to me nushinka is smoking, and I’m really happy that we cleaned most of the trash outside, so won’t have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow. Interesting, which car will carry the trash.

I’m really beat.

Day 3 (Sunday), noon

I just typed in the sheets, on which I had my notes. I have a really ugly handwriting (I can read it myself, btw :) ), everyone who saw it couldn’t read past the third word :)

In the morning I wake up early (around 9), looked at the people watching something (Future Boy Conan, a kid, that had a really dexterous legs :) ), and pulled some potatoes from the fire. With Felina we ate them, and then we watched some more anime. After that we started cleaning up, gathering the equipment, roasting the meat that was left, and such stuff. Sometime after we were ready I with VDE and Vegeta left with one of the cars and the equipment. Funny thing, we passed by sharkbite twice (and he left before we did :) ).

Conclusions

We should simplify the organizing.

Watching anime on a big screen with a projector and a nice audio equipment is great, we should do it more often. No monitor can compare to this :) If there is a way, we can do it in Sofia, without all the long walks, organizing, etc.

When Bub’s drunk, he’s attacking people :),

The cabin has some audio equipment, something like big real 100W speakers, mixed and amplifier, but I’m not sure that the cabin won’t fall if we use it, and have no exact idea how will we hook on it (I looked at it, while helping the manager to find out how the cabling is done, it’s a whole new science).

We weren’t able to try the beans of the manager, we should do that next time.

The potatoes on embers were great. They just have to be bigger.

If the mosquitoes were edible, we never will be hungry there – they were a lot…

I feel sleepy.
