“May you live in interesting times” is definitely a curse…

Friday I managed to do three almost heroics:

First, I survived from a two-hour meeting with the “marketing and sales” department, the boss and one of my tech team about a system on customer relations tracking. I’ve screamed for pure 20 minutes at least. I also understood how many problems come up from not following nettiquette in email communications…

Second, after the meeting I had to fix two machines with weird problems. To be honest, I wasn’t even thinking while I was doing that, fixed that in 20 minutes just like that.

Third, in the evening after 20:00 I reconfigured the network, including a few exercises of the type “reconfigure the branch you’re sitting on”. I managed to untangle two networks one from another, to clean up a lot of the configuration of one of them, and to make it a bit more portable by messing again parts of the config with some proxyarps, policy routings and VPNs.
(two fun moments were the explanation to a lad on the other side “disconnect the cable from port X”, “ok, now connect it back”, and how right now two adjacent ports on one switch are interconnected with a straight cable (as there’s no way to bridge two VLANs there in any other way, and to move the ports in the other VLAN would’ve been a branch-killing of a deathly proportion)).

And the strangest thing is that when I went to the store before the third thing to get something to eat I passed near the beers and didn’t take any. Even though I had this tremendous desire to get 5 and to drink them while breaking the network. Something is wrong with me.

I don’t feel like even thinking on what’s coming Monday. Or Sunday, seems like I had some stuff to finish…
