2008-12-02 Serial Experiments Lain

by Vasil Kolev

I watched “Serial Experiments Lain” about 8-9 years ago. Since then I’ve watched it 4 or 5 times (just finished with one) and it’s different every time. Maybe I’m the different one :)

The movie is just 13 episodes by about 20 minutes, strange, entangled and leaves you with a lot more questions than answers. I can’t say I had understood it until the third time I saw it in the needed depth, and maybe there are still things I’ve missed. But I finally managed to pay some attention to the animation (not one of the best) – I didn’t have time for it before from all the ideas…

The whole thing is in the group of the classical things, and as it’s said in wikipedia most of it’s reviews mention the word “weird” in spite of the total absence of sexual or violence scenes (and when there is one, it fits perfectly) and gives you a lot of questions on the topic of the world, the network, God, the connection between them (with the free will running around).

I recommend it to everyone who’s needs a challenge.
