Some time ago I had written some stuff about the real admin… After the last two weeks the thought that come into my mind seem better suited for the real psychopath.

Last week I was in Romania on a business trip (the crazy people there made me get up at 6:40 every day) (Romania is not a bad place, the women are nice and the beer is good), went back Friday and spent the time until 22 in the office to fix things that were broken while I was away. Saturday I arranged a meeting between my bosses and Unixsol on some stuff, and maybe I was able to sleep Sunday, then the week began…

I didn’t sleep a lot. The top was Thursday, when we worked on making a Spidermux work until 3 in the morning because of a lot of strange reasons (which I’ll describe some other time, or if Chorbadzhiyski has the desire, he can write them), in the morning I went back to finish them. But in the evening we were ready with the Astricon presentations, and I gathered the needed luggage for the people that will be flying tomorrow to show us off…
(and we were also able to update three of our core server between 22:10 and 22:30)
(I’m living in a joke. I was speaking with the programmers and said “…and I’ll pour them in the machine” and one of them started laughing. Asked him why and the answer was ‘I expected you again to say “…and I’ll fuck that”‘…)
(and I was such good child not so long time ago)

The normal people would sleep through the weekend, but I don’t seem to have much in common with them – I have another project which has to be done, and I tend to keep up my word :) Looking back, I don’t see anything that can scare me – I’ll either die or do my job (and according to my observations I have some problems with dying).

Expect an update for Marla’s fund-raiser these days…

(and does someone know where can I find the latest Kultur Shock album (We came to take your jobs away)? I don’t have a credit card, and it still haven’t showed up in Bulgaria)

Едно време бях писал няколко неща за истинския админ… След последните две седмици нещата, които ми идват са по-скоро за истинския психопат.

Миналата седмица бях в Румъния на командировка (болните мозъци там ме караха да ставам в 6:40) (Румъния не е лошо място, жените са хубави и бирата е добра), прибрах се в петък и изкарах до 22 в офиса да оправям неща, счупили се в мое отсъствие. Събота организирах една среща на шефовете с Unixsol по разни въпроси, неделята май успях да спя, и се почна седмицата…

Не съм спал особено много. Върхът беше в четвъртък, когато подкарвахме един Spidermux до 3 сутринта по ред причини (които ще опиша някой друг път, или ако Чорбаджийски има желание, ще ги изпише той), на сутринта пак отидох да довършваме. Поне до вечерта бяхме подготвили представянето за Astricon, аз събрах нужния багаж и утре хората летят да ни излагат…

(все едно живея във виц. Говоря си с програмистите, казвам ‘… а аз да ги насипя на машината’, след което единия почна да се хили. Питах го защо и отговора беше ‘ами по навик очаквах да кажеш “а аз да им еба майката”‘ …)
(а бях такова добро дете едно време)

Нормалните хора биха си отспали през почивните дни, ама аз май нямам много общо с тях – имам една друга работа, която трябва да се свърши, па аз си държа на думата :) Поглеждайки назад, не мога да се сетя какво може да ме уплаши особено – или ще умра, или ще си свърша работата (а аз по мои наблюдения не мра лесно).

As most people know, marla’s hardware is dying (mostly because it’s at least 4 years old). Because of that I’ve found an offer for a new machine to replace it, here’s the specification:

Because of this with “Open project” Foundation I’m starting a fund-raiser for the new machine, because it’ll be a bit hard for me to get all the money by myself, and because I get asked a lot by some people on how can they help :) The cost is 2615 USD without VAT, with it it’s 3138 USD.

Most probably I’ll donate the old machine to some similar project, she can work at least a few more years if she isn’t pushed the same way :)

Както хората знаят, marla сдава багажа като хардуер (най-малкото защото е на около 4 години). По случая си намерих оферта за новата машина, с която да я заместя, ето как изглежда спецификацията:

По случая с Фондация “Отворени проекти” пускаме fund-raiser (някой да ми каже българската дума) за новата машина, понеже на мен ще ми дойде малко на нагорно да събера сам парите, и понеже все бивам питан от хората, които ползват машината дали не искам помощ :) Цената на машината е 2615 USD без ДДС, с ДДС идва 3138 USD.

Най-вероятно старата машина ще даря на някой подобен проект, тя може да бута още поне няколко години, стига да не бъде товарена по същия начин :)

They’re a big package of waffles “Naya” with cocoa. To underline that – a big pack, with really tasty waffles, on my or on some of the desks next to me, that makes it possible for the people that haven’t had breakfast/lunch to fill the void a bit. They’re the second thing after the coffee that makes the office move… So am I right to swear at the support who went to the store and whom I’ve given money to buy some of the lovely waffles, and he forgot?

Представляват един голям пакет вафли “Ная” с кокос. Да подчертая, голям пакет, с много вкусни вафли, стоящ на моето или на някое от съседните бюра на support-а, който дава възможност на хората които не са закусвали/обядвали да се подкрепят. Изобщо системните вафли следващото нещо след кафето, което движи офиса… Та прав ли съм да ругая support-а, който слезе до магазина и на който бях дал пари да вземе от лелеяните вафли, и той забрави?
